I was thinking of getting one it seems like a year or so ago and they were just starting to import them, they were selling for $350 or so I think and had to recall some of them because of barrel length issues. Today I looked on gunbroker and the price on them is really high. Anyone know what the hold up is and why they're not flowing in large numbers like I expected?

You're probably looking at the converted units. They command a premium.

gunbroker stuff is always overprices, you should be able to find them for $450 or less unconverted. They've changed importers since they were first introduced and I don't think the current importer is bringing them in, in the same numbers.

I'm curious why they don't seem to be that many for sale. I wish they'd import more so I could actually find one for a decent price.

On a side note I been thinking about taking the plunge on the .308 SAIGA's atlantic has with the G3 sites.

How much are they? Those .308 SAIGAs are tits. If .308 wasn't so expensive I'd already have one :o

I have a few of them. I basically hold them waiting for the value to go up.

My local gun shop gets them in every now and then, asking $450 IIRC. Really tempted to pick one up! :noes:

$450-$500 is all i see anymore. No idea why they aren't being imported in larger numbers.

LOL, no. I'm sure they'd have some interesting opinion about the Saiga-12. It's at Ron and Jo's Firearms.

After Kalashnikov USA folded, EAA, RAAC, and one other one I forget started importing S12s in large numbers, making availability a non issue. EAA and the other folded, leaving RAAC the only importer. When there were three or more importers, the shipping delay between each was minimized. Now that there's only one, you're stuck dealing with the huge morass that is Russian/American export issues.

If you find one, buy it... or two. I think if a ban comes down, they're going to be worth their weight in gold...
