EFA's , especially DHA/EPA found in omega's 3's are very important and most people don't' get anywhere near enough in their diet.
the list of health benefits is HUGE and includes the heart, brain, cholesterol, skin, hair and joints. It also helps keep cell walls "fluid" which allows for easier transfer of nutrients, etc which helps ya grow

Most people don't know how, they google everything.
I take half in the morning, the rest before bed. Others divide them amongst their meals.

Basically one of the main benefits for weightlifters is the anti-inflammatory effect. Lots of problems caused by inflammation (sore joints etc) can be improved on. Plus, IIRC fish oil helps you to utilise fat as an energy source too, so on a diet it can help you lose more fat.
