I have been looking for a Ska thread but couldnt find any.......Everyone seems to hate ska but they dont give it a chance.....by far they put on the most fun shows and its the only music nowadays that you can dance(music that relates to teenagers im not talking about like polka or salsa dancing music)

So Come and talk about the Skatalites or Big D or any 1st,2nd,3rd wave bands that you may want to talk about......and just so people know ska started in the early 1960's NOT with Mighty Mighty Bosstones and Reel Big Fish.....

CHAT AWAY RUDE BOYS AND GIRLSS!!

Ska is sweet! Im sorry if Im not a macho tough guy that has to listen to hardass music all the time to show that Im tough....mellow out and be happy instead of angry and dance to some ska! I understand that ska isnt the best lyrically and that is why I listen to other types of music but still to say ska sucks is like saying air sucks.

ska fan right here. from link 80 to big d and the kids table to arrogant sons of bitches, if you haven't heard them, check them out.

Also I do listen to alot of misc ska bands like the spitvalves...granny's pie ect ect. Ska is a very overlooked genre, then again i do not listen to just ska it's usually ska/punk (or skacore i guess, don't know what they call it), the old jamaican ska really bores me. There just a certain umph that comes with ska..the horns can really put great impact in a song.

arrogant sons of bitches just put a new album out ( 3 cheers for disappointment) it's easily the best ska album I've heard in five years. Too bad it's supposedly their last cd =/

The old stuff is pretty cool. I love the sizes of some of the bands.

River City Rebels are glam rock now, though "Racism, Religion, And War" was a hell of an album. The new ASOB record is phenomenal, you should check out Bomb The Music Industry too, (www.bombthemusicindustry.com) It's the lead singer of ASOB's new project, completely DIY awesome stuff. I used to be really big into ska back in high school because connecticut has a hell of a ska scene, been a little out of the loop since I went to school.

I listen to everything from trad to third and fourth wave. Favorite band (ATM) is probably the planet smashers.

I sort of wonder around the edges of the true ska realm. Not that I dont like it or anything, its just so obscure to me that its hard to step in.

On a sidenote, I went and saw Less Than Jake play at Jannus Landing in St. Pete last night. It was a great time. (This is what I mean by "staying on the edge of the ska scene")

yea..I'm listening to asobs album as we speak (i listen to it daily)...it really is too bad that they broke up. I would have thought after a grammy nominated album they would stick together.

also yea I agree..skankin and the whole ska scene kids do put me off but then again so do the hardcore kids who mosh (well not mosh more like fight shadow ninjas) or the punks who where skin tight pants and shit all over everywhere. I just listen to music and enjoy the shows

Its like Some Catch and Some Streetlight and others.....its all acoustic ska with like violins and shit its sweet......some songs Streetlight plays now.....I love Streetlight Manifesto just for the fact that they are really really lyrically in tune......

My gf was at that show...apparently it was pretty good. I saw them at that venue like 3 years ago when they came with Fall Out Boy.

fuckin' love LTJ though, always a damn good show.
