    My bigass car has a 5.0 V8 and everyone keeps telling me a 305 is better. Then I drove a buddies bigass car with a 305 in it and did rock pretty well.

    My car is an 85 lesabre. his car was a 80's caprice or some other chevy.

    It's virtually the same, at least the engine block should be. One might be carburated instead of fuel injected, but they should both be the same basic engine.

    Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat? So what if it's a Buick and a Chevy. Same damn parent company, the engine should be the same and if it's not then they are seriously stupid. Then again, Chevy/Buick/Pontiac had the 454 and Oldsmobile had the 455...:mamoru:

    5.0 = 305, but 350 > 305

    The 307 is a chevy motor and is older than the 305, I doubt both were in production at the same time, but both are equally worthless.

    All you have to go on is the displacement and the year an model of one car, his LeSabre. You don't know what year the other engine is or if its, in fact, from a Caprice, so you don't know what family engine to compare. Hell, I don't know which 5.0 that LeSabre had.

    Besides, GM took a long time to standardize engines across each company. Buick, Olds, and Chevy all had internally developed engines into the 80s.

    You do have different motors.
    Buick has a 307 pos 5.0.
    Chevy has a 305 pos 5.0.

    305>307, but they both suck.
    The only reason the 305 Chevy is better, is simply because there is endless amounts of aftermarket parts for the small block chevy. The tiny chambered heads on the 305 are worthy to some circle track racers too.

    The Buick 307 is a good boat anchor.
