I've been doing long interval (45 minutes) at about 130 BPM about 3-4 times a week. I haven't changed my diet around yet, just kinda getting my body back in the groove of things, then plan on beginning a cut phase for the first time in my life

People here seem to like HIIT, you're no where near that though.

I've lost muscle mass at 130 BPM at 30 min. interval.

Lately, I've been doing short 3-7 min. bursts at the beginning of my workouts and it seems to work.

what kinda heart rates am I supposed to be seeing? I was seeing upwards of 170-180 on the sprint and it wouldn't slow down much more from that at a jog (150-160)

i've just been doing 10-15 minutes moderate intensity most days post-workout. or if i have time that day i'll go in at night and do 20 minutes moderate intensity if i didnt do cardio after lifting in the AM.

evolude - you probably just needed to bump your cals up a bit. i doubt the cardio is solely to blame..

I sure did bump it up. Anyways, shorter intervals are working for me so I'm good for now.

I think I am going to start doing 5-10 minutes before I lift. Especially now that it's so damn cold it will be a nice warm up before hand.

My cheats sometimes hit close to half that. :)

I'm leaner than 3-6 months ago when I was doing the 30 mins.

i could be wrong about the specifics or mechanism but its my understanding (i know ceaze will clear this up) that excessive cardio messes with your muscle fiber or muscle type and decreases the amount of 'strength' muscle fibers, decreasing your maximal strength.

the higher i crank up the intensity the more it seems to f with my workouts.

I've come to the conclusion that I'm going to do like 20 min @ ~125 bpm from now on

It could mean not enough cals, rest or a loss in leverage.

45-60 minutes a day of walking or if I'm doing more intense interval type shit I'll cut it to 20-30.

Still a big fan of the elliptical which I'm going to go back to soon since its getting colder, but I prefer doing cardio outside.

I just hope my muscle fibers don't disappear and I lose all my strength! :noes:

    come on, seriously?
