    New fad? No, I've known about them for some time now.

    Dude, they were the "fad" like 2 years ago! :ugh2:

    Well at least for home audio subwoofer use anyways. :p

    Seriously though, they have been around for awhile, I remember wanting one when I first wanted a subwoofer for my car 3 years ago.

    never heard one or seen one for that matter

    are they a home sub them that peoepl are using for car use?

    Yeah, they are actually a home audio subwoofer. They have a low free air resonance of around 20hz and with EBS alignments in home can have useable output below 20hz. But they work fine in a car too, you just don't use that large of an enclosure tuned so low, because if you do, you will have an exaggerated low frequency response.
