Im sure someone here has your phone, but what kind of format do you have to convert MP3's in to? Does your phone support mp3s? if it does, there are some programs that can resample the mp3 file down to a lower bitrate etc - sony sound forge comes to mind, im sure there are some free ones though too.

If your phone doesnt support real ringtones, then you wont be able to convert an mp3 to polyphonic or midi (at least I dont think - i could be wrong though).

bluetooth + your own MP3 files

it will play an MP3 file without any conversion needed. just encode the MP3 in mono and at a low enough bit rate that the finished file is 3 MB or less since the V551 is a bit limited on memory.

goldwave is ok, audacity is better. just split the track, cut out one channel, set it to mono, cut out a 30 second clip, and encode it at ~64kbps.

sounds hard but its easy :o
