Re-watched both Apocalypse Now and Platoon recently. They'd both have to be up there.

Most recently, The Hurt Locker, hits DVD today, so if you haven't seen it yet, you should.

I don't think Saving Private Ryan could ever be beat though, that movie is just awesome on so many levels.

Saving Private Ryan definately is up there.

And I know it's not really considered a movie, but the Band of Brothers mini series was awesome on many levels.

I was thinking about Saving Pvt Ryan the other day, and really it's the opening invasion that makes the movie. It really is probably the best war scene ever filmed. The rest of the movie doesnt seem to hold up to the same standard because the bar was set so high.

I would say Band of Brothers is better overall.

Black Hawk Down and Tears of the Sun pissed me off and they are really sad.

Saving Private Ryan is prolly the best one I've ever seen and I've pretty much seen them all. My dad is a huge war movie junkie so i've seen all the old ones with John Wayne, etc.

Band of Brothers, as others have mentioned, is also a great series.

The Pacific is another good war series thats coming out this year.

I can't name the best war film off the top of my head right now, but my current favorite is Jarhead. It is an accurate depiction of day-to-day life while deployed in Southwest Asia.

The Beast of War was pretty good. Platoon is one of my favorites.

Pearl Harbor isn't a war movie.

Saving Private Ryan is definitely the best war movie ever made!!!

The Hurt Locker has replaced Saving Private Ryan as my favourite, but not by much.
It think the battle scenes in SPR are stupendous, but the story in THL just works a bit better for me. I also like the fact that most of the actors are relative unknowns so you are not comparing their role to others that they have had.
