Also :o I didn't realize the 17-40L was f/4.0 :wtc: What the gay!! Might as well get a 10-22 insted!

man you are just jumping on this really expensive equipment and barely know what you are buying...and it seems to me that the 17-40 and 10-22 are not so comparable in range

I like my 16-35 f/2.8L but I still prefer the 70-200 f/2.8L IS when I have the space. My shots from the Viper photo shoot I did this past weekend, the 70-200 came out sharper and had better colors than with the 16-35. The 70-200 was on the 10D, the 16-35 was on the 20D, too.

I still like my thrifty fifty better than any of the L glass I own/have owned...even my 35 f/2 blows them away, I have no idea why. Probably because I just like primes. No L primes yet :(

of course the 70-200L will produce shaper pictures than a wide zoom.

plus the 70-200L f/2.8 is probably the sharpest zoom that canon produces

Non-zoom. ex. a 50 mm prime is fixed at 50 mm

You like the 35 F2? Even with its 5 blade aperture & lack of contrast (from what Ive heard)? Im trying to get my hands on a 24 F2.8, should be comprable to a 35 on my 1.6, good for some landscape shots & group shots @ parties with flash.

that is until I can be bothered shelling out for another lens, which will probably be a 17-40.

I fucking love it. The light is very soft, the detail isn't...kind of strange to explain.

20d...use it mostly for low light concerts w/o flash...low light night skatepark stuff, with flash...some portrait work, use the 50 more for that though (indoor and outdoor).
