I'm looking for a good backup program that can backup to CD/DVD, drive letter, or UNC path and backup open files. I've tried a few and they all have their problems. I'd like to define backup jobs and be able to schedule them for unattended operation. It sounds simple but most of the stuff I've tried sucks.

The Ghost that runs in DOS from a floppy is great. I still use it to clone disks. But the latest Windows one (basically Drive Image) is crap. Typical Symantec bloatware that breaks.

Anyway, I'm looking for a file level backup app, not a disk imager/cloner.

I also haven't found a good one for Windows. On my Linux servers, I use the XFS filesystem utilities xfsdump/xfsrestore. They're fucking awesome.

I have Norton Ghost software, ran from floppy disks. Very old, but very effective.
