i've heard good things about the doublestar, but that gay, cheesy cowboy font they use is enough to stop me from ever buying one.

Lauer lowers are made by LMT, and look to be finished by Lauer in Duracoat. Whatever the finish is, it's much better than pretty much any AR I've ever held. My buddy has a Lauer lower, and it's great.

I know nothing about the other company.

Great to see another Kalifornian taking part in these group buys!! I picked up my Fulton lower yesterday from the Milpitas group buy and did another DROS on a Lauer lower.

Had a Doublestar, and honestly, the fit and finish was better than several Bushmasters I've owned. My next AR, if there is another, will be built up on a DS lower.

    No more lauer :(

What about the wilson tactical? Its a little more expensive than the Double Star but is it worth it? Price for the Doublestars are $255 and wilson $285.

How much is having an AR worth to you? You may not get the chance again. I'de get the wilson unless you have plans on leaving your commie state soon.

    edit:
I missread your first post missed the double star thing, I'm not familiar with them at all. If there the Stars that centerfire sells I'd avoid them.

Well remember in any other state they'de be less money then what you have to pay in Cali, Wilson has a good name neverhandled one of the there AR's but I'm going to assume its quality stuff. I have 3 AR lowers right now stag and bushmaster, I paid like $250 for the bushmaster complete ready to mate with an upper, $80 or 90 each for the Stag's.

Looks like your getting in on Artherd and Scratch's groupbuy. They're great guys to deal with. I'm picking up my Lauer on Thurs and am contemplating getting a Wilson tactical myself. I've heard nothing but good things about the WT lowers.

I know the Contra Costa group buy has Doublestars and they're supposed to be good quality too. But if I had to choose 1 reciever, I'd definitely go with the Wilson.

I'm getting on the contra costa group buy unless I want the WT. If so Ill have to drive an hr away and debating if I want to drive that far + the extra cash really worth it. The contra costa group buy should have some Fulton and an Ametech.

Is CA not aware of thise loophole? Are they not fervently trying to quash the incoming masses of AR lowers?
