he's got a 5GB transfer cap. anything over he pays for overages. what are we gonna do?
He will remote desktop to his house and continue uploading for us
yeah, but more over, how is he going to watch anime? remote desktopping it would just end up using more bw than just downloading.
TheUltimateNewb (12:29:02 AM): hmm waht am i gonna do when i get to college
TheUltimateNewb (12:29:07 AM): i won't be able to upload shit anymore
wiredout46 (12:29:17 AM): lol, what school you going to again?
wiredout46 (12:29:20 AM): i remember it was a pretty leet one
TheUltimateNewb (12:29:22 AM): cornell
wiredout46 (12:29:25 AM): right
TheUltimateNewb (12:29:32 AM): they have an incredibly gay internet policy
TheUltimateNewb (12:29:45 AM): we only get 5GB of download traffic
TheUltimateNewb (12:29:49 AM): and then we have to pay for overages
wiredout46 (12:29:50 AM): hahahahahhaha
wiredout46 (12:29:54 AM): that is terrible
wiredout46 (12:29:56 AM): absolutely
TheUltimateNewb (12:29:57 AM): i'm fucked
TheUltimateNewb (12:30:05 AM): my bill is gonna be so bad
wiredout46 (12:30:14 AM): maybe ot anime crew can work something out for you
TheUltimateNewb (12:30:27 AM): one of the guys said i should just do a remote desktop thing
wiredout46 (12:30:33 AM): remote desktop ftl
TheUltimateNewb (12:30:36 AM): why
wiredout46 (12:30:43 AM): you'll waste all your bandwidth transmitting the images and shit through internets
TheUltimateNewb (12:30:51 AM): oh
wiredout46 (12:31:38 AM): plus it'll be choppy
wiredout46 (12:32:08 AM): and you'll waste more bandwidth transmitting the commands and images of your desktop and computer opening your folder and shit
TheUltimateNewb (12:32:14 AM):
TheUltimateNewb (12:32:18 AM): what to do then
wiredout46 (12:32:43 AM): if you don't mind waiting, i wouldn't mind burning you a dvd of the shit
TheUltimateNewb (12:32:47 AM): i don't think i'll have a problem getting files since cornell has a DC++ hub with tons of shit
wiredout46 (12:33:00 AM): or do you have a laptop?
TheUltimateNewb (12:33:01 AM): but i dunno if i can wait
TheUltimateNewb (12:33:05 AM): uhh nope
wiredout46 (12:36:43 AM): hm.. i've got portable memory that we could mail and and forth
TheUltimateNewb (12:36:49 AM):
TheUltimateNewb (12:37:19 AM): well i'll go up there first, see how the situation is, and then discuss with everyone on OT
wiredout46 (12:37:29 AM): yep
you selfish prick, i was more curious on how he was going to watch anime, knowing the otaku he is
preparing the masses
That means he won't be able to watch anything either way, I don't think remote desktopping uses much bandwidth for either user, and it would be using the bandwidth of his computer at home to download/upload.
Cornell has a pretty good DC++ hub from what I hear, so I just need to see how fast new anime gets on there. If I can get someone else to waste their bandwidth and put it up for me, I won't need to pay for shit.
mail weekly dvd's ftw
the amount of care you guys have for me is touching
yeah, exactly, so we should come up with a way so that he can watch it. i mean, he has done a lot for us
I'm hoping he'll have the time of his life because college changes ya.
are you implying that he'll stop watching anime?
he uploads for us, every time he goes home he burns eps to CD/DVD to watch when he goes back to school
depends on how often he goes home.
Do what I did in school, Multiple network cards. At my peak I had 5 of them in my desktop My school logged transfer by IP and Mac adress, I don't know if that'll work at cornell, but it may. Also my school refreshed the 5gb transfer every 7 days. So I would just cycle through the cards as I used up the bandwith.
Also my friend went to Cornell as well and he was sufficently caught up on anime. Albit he wasn't a big anime buff but he was up to date and caught up on most popular anime's.
Worst case scenario Mail dvds or exchanging external harddrives of 300gb or more full of anime
5 network cards???
i am going to college too, i dont know what their internet policy though... anyways i still have about 200GB of anime i havent watched yet
get a verizon aircard or something similar and dont worry about it?
internet at broadband speeds in most major cities, wherever you get a verizon signal. cost is 79 dollers a month for unlimited data plan but hey you can use it anyplace. 59 if you already have verizon.
cingular has the same type of thing.
not even close to broadband speeds for cingular.
i played with the sony ericcson one when i worked for a cell phone company, it's probably like ISDN 128
the verizon one is decent tho.
he will goto the local jr college and live at home
but really where is he headed?
