i played both Modern Warfare games in singleplayer before and i totally want to buy one of them to play online now. naturally i would go with the newer game since it has new stuff, slightly better graphics, nukes and so, but from what i read there were several downgrades like the no dedicated server thing etc. i don't care a bit about mods / custom shit and not a lot about clans but i heard that the games are hosted locally on players' machines so if they quit everybody get's disconnected and stuff like that. Also people wrote that the whole steam stuff is shitty, not always working and overall fucked up.
What are pros and cons of both games respectively?

well my major concern is about the the technical side. if i was a xbox360 gamer i would go with mw2, no question. but i want to know how playable it is on pc :/ i read all kinds of horror stories about not being abled to log in because of overstrained steam-servers, having to wait for a game for a long time, getting kicked out after 10 minutes of playing because the host left, laggy hell because of limited bandwith etc.
another thing: how many people can play on the same map? i heard something about 9vs9 on mw2, no idea about mw1. :dunno:

mostly on amazon.de reading user comments on it :o But the posters there seem retarded as fuck anyways. I figured I could get some better opinions on OT and NN, therefore I'm asking this. The local hosting of games seems like a giant flaw to be honest, how noticable is it ingame?

I had such a good time playing MW1, mostly because the games were much bigger being 50 player dedicated servers. I haven't played MW2 so I don't know what the perks are and such.

Unless you like waiting up to two minutes between each map, no being able to play online at all when Steam is down, and enjoy frustrations joining every game you play when playing with more than 4 people in a party, then get MW1. MW2 would easily be the winner if you didn't have to deal with the matchmaking, local hosting BS.

:werd: call of lobbyfare is not fun. or losing someone in your party when it merges lobbies and having to back out then wait another 2 mins.

the game is bigger in europe than the states atm, so I guess there are likely more people playing and seeing that. Stuff like that will happen time to time, but mainly when you've got a party of 5-6 people, and even then, that's not always the case.

I am bummed that there's not a larger max player size. Some of the maps really fucking suck when you're doing 6 vs 6. At the same time, it's already massive chaos on some maps and even unplayable at times.

2 is better, simply because it has more shit to do.

1 = Awesome search and destroy hc on dedicated servers.

COD4. Nothing better then joining a server with 12v12, or 16v16 and doing map after map, game type after game type with like 15 seconds between matches. (Instead of that god awful 90 second intermission between every fucking map change.)

Not to mention better maps, better online community, better guns, better perks, and all around better multiplayer experience.

    Yes I have played both.
