I hope this is the right place to post this but, I was wondering what is a good software for putting movies from a miniDV camcorder (Sony HCR96) to my computer. I used the one that came with it and it uses USB streaming but it stops every 3 minutes or so and that's what I would like to avoid. I'm new at this so any advice would be great. Thanks in advance.

I use Pinnacle Studio, but I've also played around with Adobe Premiere Elements... very impressive for a cut-down version of Premiere.

Adobe to gather the learning curve on.

Avid if you are on a PC and already have a good editing basis.

Final Cut Studio if you are on a Mac and have a good editing basis.
