Lets say at 3000 cals (or does cals even matter?) what's a good limit to set for sodium intake?
i dont worry about sodium to much until im cutting or retaining too much water.
Are you dieting or bulking or maintaining?
i ate a double quarter pounder with cheese the other day with 1300 mgs of sodium... i ended up getting buyers remorse after i ate it
I'm going to take the plunge and start bulking again.
I've been maintaining for probably close to a year now and I've gotten used to the low bodyfat and I'm a scared little bitch about putting on water and/or sloppy weight, so I'd like to be as careful as possible. I've been through the whole bulk-bloat and creatine-bloat stages and I'm all set with that.
i eat canned chili pretty often and it's 100% DV sodium based on 2000 cal diet. i hear high sodium leads to high blood pressue .. how does drinking a lot of water with the chili effect that?
im here to support u - bulk crew signing in
Back when I drank heavily I would leave a party or bar and those would be my next choice right after crunchwrap supremes. The dump I would take the next morning was ungodly.
You can be my sponsor.
Good thing I don't like chili.
get with me later on some good preworkout and during workout supps that have been helping a fuckton
you skinny guys make me laugh. ive went 20 years without seeing my abs and really, i only have a desire to see them once or twice a year now. The rest of the time im more concerned about puting on mass.
Nothing wrong with your outlooks since we all have different goals. For me, walking into a room being 6'1 at a relatively cut 240 is more important than a 6 pack.
No lie, it gets addicting.
My goal this year is bench 500 @ 250.
well im trying to become broly crew not skinny crew
Not everyone is a sodium responder. I could eat a shitton of salt and my BP wouldn't move. My sister and I even sometimes get low BP if we don't eat lots of salt. Just make sure you get lots of potassium and check your BP, as long as it's fine you'll do ok. Those general guidelines for everyone are stupid.
ah cool, good to know
I personally don't pay attention since I drink so much water. I LOVE salt.
2000-3000mg according to the heart association
I don't really worry about sodium levels, most of the foods I eat are low in sodium.
If I happen to eat something high in sodium, the amount of water I drink cancels it out
The sodium guidelines are like the BMI.
Most people consume three to four times the recommended amount and suffer no permanent consequences. There's a small percentage that will respond as a result of sodium sensitivity.
I'm not saying you should totally ignore it, but don't go overboard like I did at one point and start counting every fucking mg in your diet.
I eat as little as possible, after a high sodium meal I gain like 5 pounds, get a headache and feel dried out and lethargic.
I LOVE THE WAY IT TASTES THOUGH.
If you don't have high blood pressure and you don't get bad effects go ahead and eat as much as you want imo
I'm not concerned about the high blood pressure aspect, I'm concerned about the water retention.
