I'm new and don't have anything. What's a good price range for helmets, jackets, boots, gloves?

    Thanks :)

I am planning on a full faced helmet, johnny rocket jacket, whatever gloves and boots.

Just depends on what you want.

    Some cheaper/decent gear I'd figure
    Helmet 150
    Jacket 250
    Gloves 50
    Boots 120

Hoody? You're better off wearing a t-shirt and enjoying the outdoors

At least get a jacket with armor in it. You can find something nice for $150. I did. I agree with the helmet comment. I got a scorpion exo 400 and it fits my head perfectly.

with gear, you get what you pay for.

i have dealt with sportbiketrackgear.com, they are really amazing. fast shipping, some of the lowest prices around, and check out their closeout section for some crazy steals.

Add in goo pants and take some from the jacket and add to the helmet and that sounds about right. I used to work at a moto shop and those are good figures unless you go for higher end gear.

Scorpion helmets are fairly inexpensive and great 150-200

Any jacket with armor is usually good, I got an Icon one for 100

Gloves with some type of good padding once again Icon for 50

Boots atleast above the ankle and have crash protection. 100-150 sounds right.

Then pants can be had for roughly 100.

Anywhere from 500-800 sounds about ritgh for all new gear. But used crap is just as good if it hasn't been crashed

Hey, lemme know how you like the boots. I still haven't found any I really like yet.

I tried them on yesterday and they fit true to size. I wear a size 13 shoe and ordered a size 13 online without ever trying them on.

They are a basic, everyday riding boot. They cover above the ankle (no shin coverage). The bottom of the boot is heavy. The toe box is firm on the top (similar to a steel toe boot I suppose). This makes it nice and easy for shifting compared to riding in tennis shoes. Granted I've only rode once with them, I'd recommend them :bigthumb:

My concern is I don't want something that makes me feel like I'm riding in Darth Vader's boots.

I guess I'll keep a pair of shoes at work?
