    Out of my mind, brb never.
    A friend of mine has a slightly used .40 cal Sig P239 with tritium night sights, two mags, the Sig paddle holster (really nice IMO) and matching mag pouch.

    I am wondering what OT WMD thinks about the P239 as a carry gun (compared to my full sized P226), and what would be a good price to offer my friend for the gun.

    Pictures of the P239;

    I personally don't like the P239. Too small for my liking...I shot one for my CHL qualification and it felt too snappy for me. Granted that could be because I was not used to the gun, but I was able to shoot .40S&W out of a P229 better than 9mm out of the P239. I had tested the P239 in .40 before and didn't care for it at all

    The bottom gun has a threaded barrel... why? Are these pics both of the gun you are buying?

    My CCW is a 239 in 40.
    Good gun, I'm very accurate with the gun, and with the hogue grips like the gun in the first pic it's very manageable.

    Don't know about pricing any more, I'd imagine they're pretty inflated like all sigs now.

    I think Ebtromba is right, all the sig people say its small but break out the measuring tools and see. I think when I measured the 239 its grip dimensions were nearly the same as my double stack walther p99. If you're going to carry something that large you might as well have the capacity to go with it. If you want smaller it'd be time to look at stuff like the pps, khars, and the like.

    The actual size of the gun isn't particularly small. My XD SC is definitely smaller. But the 239 is very thin. This can help prevent printing for people that typically have a problem with that and is one of the major reasons I carry it over others.

    What part of the 239 is very thin? The grip or the slide? Can you give dimensions? I don't have a 239 anymore but I'd be curious to compare to some of the other stuff I have. As I recall it was as thick as my doublestack p99 and looking online it looks like the dimensions are as thick as a g26. I'm not sure its as thin as its internet reputation.

    The grip is very thin, the slide is just barely thinner than my p228.
    I'd estimate the grip to be about an inch or maybe even smaller.

    As luck would have it I found an old email I sent to a friend from when I had the 239. I took these myself with my digital calipers.

    p99 width 1.19", front to back 1.90"
    p239 width 1.14", front to back 1.83"

    Anyway the point is, there are doublestack guns that are rougly the same size and lighter weight. By all means hold them in your hands and see what works better for you but personally I think the sig's reputation for being thin is greatly oversold.
