Im looking to power 2 12" W6v2s and was looking for an amp and thought a jl 1000/1 would be too much. What would you recomend?

Well...that means 500watts to each sub, I wouldn't think it's too much, as long as you aren't using crappy subs, it should be fine. Specially with the JL's you have.

1000/1 is a great choice in most enclosures.

1000/1 is a great choice, I'm looking to pick one up myself. Not big on the W6s, but they are pretty good subs. That would actualy be a pretty good combo, particularly if you're going with a sealed box.

yeah i bought a viper d1200.1 for 300 or so bucks after tax and shipping. puts out a ton of power. its a very sweet amp. that would also be alot of power for the w6's but nothing wrong with that, all u really need is 400 watts a peice.

it depends on the impedance of the woofers, u need to find the subs u want first, THEN look for an amplifier.
if u want to look for an amplifier, use this wizard http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/rftech/wiringwizard.asp

to find the ohm load u will be receiving for the woofers u want to get, then find an amp that puts out the power u need at that ohm load. good brands would be Arc Audio, USamps, Cadence, JL, Phoenix Gold, Diamond Audio, Crossfire, Kicker, Memphis, any DEI amp, MTX, JBL, Profile, UsAcoustics

I've never been impressed with MTX woofers. The 9500 series is promising, but I havent have a chance to listen to one yet.

I'd take a W6v2 over an MTX 6000 series sub anyday. Heck I'd take the original W6 over the 6000.

The 1000/1 should be fine for the w6v2's. I wouldn't go any less than a 1000 watt amp cause the w6's like power.
