I'm giving up on the mustang :wtc:

Preferably not terribly expensive, and able to be worked on between missions.

hard to find a decent project mustang at a decent price these days. i wouldn't get rid of the 70 if it wasn't breaking all the time.

I did one and would love to do it again... however the electrical system was absolutely horrific... even on rides they were redoing a 67 fastback and the mechanic said it was the worst wiring he's ever seen.... so if you want to have a reliable classic mustang you pretty much have to go to a one wire alternator like GM, buy a custom fuse panel, and make your own harnesses...

christ... it was ludicrous to spend that much at the time.... canfield heads, Crane cam, rollers, Holley intake, edelbrock manifold...

i almost wish i hadn't put as much as i did into it.. but there's no way i could get the cash out of it by selling it that i put in.

    I'd take a 347 over a 351 anyday :dunno:

You've dropped 9k into a 351? How about doing some research first next time?

    True.

I have a fuse panel in my 65 coupe. I can turn on the electric fan, fuel pump, ignition.

My car is like a Trans Amrace car. I have a 302 stroker (331) and 5 speed Tremec.

I was thinking about the 408 stroker, but I wanted a 302. You need special headers and a dual plane manifold or a hood scoop for a single plane manifold for it to fit.

My 302 makes 289 RWHP and 300 Torque at 5100 RPMs. After that, it just drops off the face of the earth.

What kind of problems am I having? (this thing was built to go to 7000 rpms. It is a race motor.

Which intake manifold are you running and how much do the heads flow?

    Which carb are you running?

I don't have the build sheet but...

    Vic Jr Intake
    TFS fully ported heads
    750 speed demon carb
    Hooker Super comp headers
    X pipe

I also decided to stay with a 302.. I actually put an 89 HO 5.0 in mine... 289 heads, roller cam, roller rockers, and dual valve springs = one high reving engine... nothing like the sound of a V-8 screaming at 7500 RPM

    My build sheet:

    89 5.0 Block
    Forged Pistons
    Forged H Beam Rods
    B303 Ford Racing Cam
    Harland Sharp Roller Rocker Arms
    Crane Cams Dual Valve Springs
    Ported/Polished 289 Heads
Weind Xcellerator Intake (this wasn't a good idea)
Holly 650 Double Pumper Mechanical Secondaries
    Hooker Headers
