What would you say are the 'must do' gym exercises?

    Ones that everyone should be doing to build/maintain a good base?

    I'd guess chest press and squats are probably 2 'must do' exercises, what else?

    squat, deadlift, bench press.
    Not only do they train muscles most effectively, but they cause an increase in testosterone and growth hormone levels because of the amount of effort exerted while doing them.

    the transient increases in testosterone and GH from training don't really affect muscle growth

    Yeah or a 45 degree incline bench would probably work decently.
