So I have 3 photographers lined up for wedding photographers.

    1. Guy who's pretty good, but costs the most. Not sure I can justify the price.

    2. Guy who takes nice pictures. But it just seems so cookie cutter, very standard, doesn't seem to creative in his shots. about 1700 cheaper than #1

    3. Least expensive, very creative great engagement photos. but the wedding details and overall wedding shots seem lacking. Background was a fashion photographer gone wedding.

    what would you choose?

I actually like the cheap guys photos. The middle guy had beautiful people and scenery and still managed to make the shots kinda blah.

Yeah that's what was kind of bugging me...nothing popped about his photos, but they aren't bad photos.

You have 3 badass west coast photographers in the mix. Here's my humble opinion, because I follow 2 out of 3 blogs on that list (Apertura & Furious)

    1. Probably one of the most creative photog groups on the west coast. Their work is something I love to see and I look forward to each blog post they have. Their technique and skill are on top of everyone's list... and I'm sure most of OTAP would agree w/ me.

    2. Their work seems superb, but they seem to be like any other photog out in the west coast thats 'good'. Nothing in their blog stands out to me, but I don't dislike any of their work either.

    3. He's good, but not as good as his brother... who started the whole furious photography thing. Lawrence (the brother) sold his business to the guy you're posting and is now doing SEO speeches and makes money that way. Same name, different photography IMO. His work is still good, so I'm not knocking it, just giving some background.

That being said, if these were my three choices, I'd go w/ Apertura because I like their work a lot!

As far as alternatives go, you could look at the following.

    1. Jason Q Tran. Great photog, great eye, and works/second shoots w/ Apertura from time to time. Still on the expensive side, but I doubt he's as expensive as Edwin or Ray.

    2. Our own ( * )( * ). He has great style, is affordable, but he lives in San Fran area. I like his work so much, I'm bringing him to Texas to shoot my brother's wedding in April.

    Hope that helps.

    Girth,

thanks for the info. I did try tits early on in the game, and he was taken. After going through many different photographers, I came down to these 3.

    1. I agree, I love apertura's work. they were priced on the high side which is what was killing me obviously trying to budget myself.

    2. I agree...his work is good, but nothing stood out. Very clean photography, just I wasn't excited by any of the work.

    3. Exactly he's good, very eager to be creative, was willing to travel to NYC with me for free for the engagement shoot(where I met my fiance). I can definitely see the potential but wasn't sure if it was worth the risk yet.

I guess I was trying to see if #2 was worth considering, because I know I'll get some good shots that are cool, but would they be exciting and memorable.

I'll definitely check out Jason Tran right now.

the midst of wedding season, too! :noes:

If Apertura or the second photog aren't booked, I'd suggest you move fast... SPECIALLY on Apertura.

When I get hitched with the girlfriend - I want to fly one of you guys to Wisconsin and do my wedding. Mr. (.)(.) and JColman are at the top of the list personally.
