    10-15 users.
    13 client systems
2 servers( runing citrix 2003 domain, sql server quickbooks, DNS DHCP all that good stuff)
Anal on security since we keep classifed weapons drawings and cad files on it...
I have less then a hour turn around time on any issues we have, I make sure daily backups are ran and that weekly off site back ups are done. when its said it done I put in 15 hours a week most of the time... We have never had any serious issues.. the one we have had a router had a software issue and locked me out( I live 1:30 away) so I made a midnight drive down and fixed it before they opened in the morning.... as of right now.. I charge them 900 a quarter.. what would you charge them I am thinking about uping it to 1000 a month since we have grown from 4 systems to 13 and my work load has grown quite a bit...

So what would you do in my shoes?

Well you might have mentioned that its your family's business before asking what to charge. You can charge them whatever you want, but if they had to pay an outsider, they'd be looking at a hell of a lot more than $1000/mo for that many hours. I don't know that that job should really require that much time though.

When I was a consultant, it was $85 an hour and if they wanted to pay quarterly I'd give a little break, but not much. 15 hours a week x $85 per hour is $1275 a week or $5100 a month. I'd charge about $4500 a month. Now since this is family, I'd give a 50% off the monthly total and let them know they won't find anything cheaper. You gotta make a living man.

When I was CTO I used to manage a 50 user network full time and pulled down 60k a year in Oklahoma (not the best market). I had a consultant that I'd pay $95/hour and he was a pimp....Master level CNE, MCSE and various other certs to his name + years of XP.

900 a quarter sounds way too cheep even in Oklahoma.

Just walk away dude. When you find another client that will pay you what your work is worth, you'll quit caring about this company all together.

Wow, your family is a bunch of bastards. See how much they cry when their computers start fucking up from neglect and they have to call someone in at $75-100/hr to fix them.

If they are running Windows and you own the licenses then you are both in violation of the license agreements. MS sells a specific license for that type of situation, you can't use off-the-shelf licenses for it.

So why are you spending so much time at such a small site?

Aren't those licensed to YOU only for development and evaluation only, not production? At least that's how the technet licenses are.
