I inherited two full sever racks with 5 p3 2u servers all in good condition but they are taking up room and I have no use for them but I took them cause the owner had no interest in them. The metal cabinets are in good condition, have fans on them approx 8 or 9 feet tall I can get pics of them later if need be. What would their value be? I could sell them fairly cheap since their of no use to me

Nice looking racks. Maybe you could list it on ebay with delivery over a certain area, like 50 mile radius or something like that.

And craigslist too. You never know who might happen to look in there.

Funny, this sounds like the position I was in a couple of years ago.

Figure out which ones are the best, and which ones can donate parts to the best ones, and build up the best ones to hold as much of everything as they can. Then toss the rest.

Good shit. Those big rackmount APC units are expensive as hell.

if he got the APC BU with them 5 grand is about right, serverless. I sold a couple of racks via craigslist. Mine were dell racks with fewer parts. I got about $80 a peice for them. I still have a rack that is close to what you have. With the APC (If the BU unit really holds a charge) i would go for about $200 for each rack. Without the APC i would only go about $100. Of course this will depend on how fast you want to get rid of them or how much you might need the money. I can only base the figures on how I would do it.

    just my 2 cents

APC units don't wear out though. Sure you need to change the batteries every few years, but the functional difference between an ten-year-old APC and a new APC is nothing.

the batteries are what i meant. I have had a couple of non-APC units go bad, but my single big one, still going.

    thanks for the clarification.
