    Older posts stay on top, newer posts below, etc

    I'd rather not post the url but it's happening on a new site of mine. Changing the theme does nothing. I also deleted all installed plugins. Still the same

    <?php query_posts('order=desc'); ?>

    above

    <?php if (have_posts()) : while (have_posts()) : the_post(); ?>

    which works but why would this do that when my other blogs don't?

    change the post time. if that doesnt work, change it in sql, if that is too much work, there is likely a plug-in for it.
