hey guys i am wondering what would be my best bet for which digital camera to buy. I am looking to spend about 300 dollars or less. I have a sony dsc-p7 that im giving to my sister and im going to upgrade to something else. I was suggested that a canon a80 would be a good choice and i found it for $250. Is there anything better than this for more money or any other suggestions would be great, thanks.

totaly depends on what features you want.

    small size vs big zoom
    # of megapixels, intended print size
manual controls vs a more point & shoot
    battery type
accessories to add on later (wide angle or tele lenses)

take a look at the sticky at the top on buying cameras

First, I would highly recommend against anything Kodak. The Canon a80, you mentioned, is great for the money. But if you'd like to spend a little more, the Minolta Dimage Z2, some above mentioned, is awesome. It is by far the sexiest camera out, and it has great features. Altogether, a great camera for the price.

Jxnnifxr thanks for the suggestion, do u know exactly what it has over the a80? another thing i want is shutter speed or iso adjustment so i can take moving pictures like a car and have the backround all blurred, would the a80 be good for this and night pictures or should i look into something else.

it has a 10x optical zoom, instead of 3x, smalled fixed screen, (The A80 is moveable), higer res video, but the thing scares me, just shake it and all you hear is plastic. Just way too much plastic, but otherwise a good little camera. Both allow for manual aperature, shutter speed modes
