What wireless card gets the longest range?

I have a linksys wireless card. But I'm looking to buy a card that gets a longer range. I also saw another card, I forgot what kind, that had an extended antenna that would allow it longer range.
What kind of card should I get or is there somekind of adapter that I can add to extent the range? The point is that I want to be farther away from my router and still get a signal. I have a netgear router, I know that will part of the difference. But given that I would rather buy another card than a router, what should I do? At extended ranges my card sees the signal but can no longer connect to it "no signal."

You could also get longer range from another access point...

You'd be amazed what you could do with a Pringles can.

I'd be worried like hell about security with a repeater. Wireless encryption already sucks :hs:
