I picked up some casein protein (twinlab or something) for overnight, slow-digestion. Couple of my buddies were telling me I'd be better off taking something quick-digesting like whey immediately after a workout, because that's when the body's repairing the muscle... I'd heard most of the repair is done at night, hence the importance of protien/amino acid production overnight.

Which would be more effective? Do both? :dunno:

Any suggestions on the workout source? I've been taking half a casein shake just to get SOME protien immediately available...

Do you have some massive thread on SD about amazon/protien?

    SD?

i have a scoop of wpi and gatorade after i work out, but a whey blend will work as well... also, a normal meal's just as good, just some kind of nutrition

check andrew's nutrition edu in the archives

slickdeals, someone with an 'SC user icon started a thread about some amazon.com deals on protien, and seemed quite educated about it

pound 2 scoops of whey with a carb source immediately after training.

save the casein for before bed.

but, obviously, you still need other sources throughout the day. you should try your damndest to get them from whole foods, but whey is the easiest throughout the day... casein doesn't mix very well

    oh, nah... that wasn't me

the consensus is, though, that if you're going to buy online go with one in this thread http://forums.offtopic.com/showthread.php?t=3304486

you really don't need a lot of carbs pwo... 30-50g will suffice for most people

how can you guys workout right after you eat?

from what i m understanding, some of you would eat a meal right before workout, is that immediately or like hours later?

i tried doing that, like i would have dinner at 6PM and try to go workout right after, but i can cramps and afraid to workout too hard right after i eat (i jog/run for warmups...) i usually wait HOURS (at least 2) after i have a meal before i go workout

    is this bad?
