A huge duffle with civilian clothes... You'll end up packing it up to your barracks with all your Tactical Equipment and sleeping bag

    the places in between
    Paperwork:
    - everything you gave to your recruiter and MEPS
    - Including anything that you need to document advanced rank
    - Dependants (marriage/divorce/seperation certificate and birth certificates for children)
    - Drivers license
    - Checkbook (you'll only need one check) and a completed Direct Deposit form
    - Names/Addresses/Phone numbers/Birdays for all of your next-of-kin
    - Names/Addresses/Phone numbers for anyone you want to call or write to while you're in basic

    Clothing:
    - as close to "only bring the clothes on your back" as you are comfortable with

    Toiletries:
    - the basics (toothbrush/toothpaste, soap, shampoo, gold bond green bottle)

    Money:
    - Less than $50. You will be issued a "smart card" with money that will be taken out of your first paycheck that you can use to buy whatever they tell you you can buy.

That's pretty much it. During the start of basic you will be spreading all of your shit out on the ground/floor so that your Drill Sgts can look through it for contraband items. This will all be done in a very fast, high-stress, manner. The more you bring, the worse it will be for you.

I always wondered if they issue underwear... I'd like to bring only the clothes on my back.
