First off, not to be a dick, but do you think you have the skill level to do something like that? it's all fine when you're just there snapping pics, but when money changes hands people will expect a certain level of results--no matter how cheap you work.

And $2 a picture and they get half? Fuck that noise.

Ask him why they should make money off of your photography? Thats bullshit.

And how are you going to know which person gets which images? Seems like a lot of work for $2.

i would consider it if you are just handing them a dvd with x number of photos on it and getting paid $x and they deal with getting the photos emailed out. it would really just depend on how many pictures you will be taking and how long it will take. if you will be taking 100+ in an hour, then yeah, i'd do it. if you have to stand there and take 10 pictures in an hour, fuck that.

Fuck that. If I were you I'd do it for a certain price depending on the amount of time and tell em to post it on their website for people to download or something. Sounds to me like the dj doesn't know wtf he's doing, no one's gonna pay two bucks for a photo they feel they can take with their point ans shoot.

It gets your name out as a cheap photographer. It all depends what you want to be known for. This works against you if want to establish yourself as a bonafide high dollar photographer.

Also, if your work sucks, and you push that out to the world...well then...start back at square 1 again.

Tell him for $100 (or whatever you think you can get) that you'll shoot pics and give him a DVD with the images. He can sell them for what he thinks he can get and you already walk with your cut. Or try Smugmug.com. You can upload there and just direct people to the site to purchase.

Or if there is a cover then have them jack the cover $3 and include a "free" photo. That's a big if when he says "if people wanna order photos".

    .

Not to be a prick, but do you think you can produce pictures in that environment that people would be willing to pay for? Just judging by all the focus problems you've been having and stuff like that. You really don't want to have to mess with people bitching that their pictures aren't what they were expecting--especially at $1 a picture...

Wow, you guys read into his small blurb of a message waaaaay too much...

Essentially what it sounds like he's doing is club photography. Nothing more, nothing less. The $2/picture sounds like an after event thing too...photos are loaded on website, people see them, if they want it emailed it is $2 and the photographer gets half ON TOP of what he's getting paid to do the event. Correct me if i'm wrong OP. This sounds pretty standard for this industry IMO.

Where does it say anything about him taking photos of people with the DJ? :ugh:

Tetsuo, a man who thinks just like me...or someone who doesn't jump to conclusions so easily. Thank you for not making me look like the only one who thought the same way.
