I've recently gotten back into working out and I'm trying to run about 3 miles every morning when I wake up. I'm trying to figure out what is the best way to go about eating breakfast. Should I wake up and not eat anything then run, or should I eat something small before I go then eat breakfast later. Anyway, I just need help.

Have 25 grams of whey protein and a small apple then go run.

Or don't eat anything if you don't feel like it. I can't eat before morning workouts. Depends on the person.

its always been controversial whether somebody should eat something before morning cardio or not. Some say that you burn up to 3x more fat on an empty stomach, others say your cortisol levels are too high and you burn muscle.

I guess I didnt really help at all but confuse you more....

good question, i was going to create the same thread.

i was thinking something along the lines of carbs+protein+sugars (along the lines of what BDR said) and water

Getting carbs influence what the body uses for fuel when you're not used to do physical activity. The more used to it the body gets, the less it has an impact and the body get used to using fats/carbs/protein for fuel the same way it does when not fed.

I'm the same. Lately though I've been trying to fit in a zone bar if I wake up early enough.

I don't eat anything, because I roll out of bed into the car to the gym. I have my shake right after though.
