so my 06 GTO is fuxored, basicly looks like i need the better part of a new motor. the L92 heads are still ok, need a new valve and some other misc work, however the block looks like its gone byebye

the lifter bore is off center (bad casting or machining at the factory) so its not worth reusing the stock block, SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

    1) pull rotating assembly out and put whats still useable into a new LS2 block
    2) buy LS3 block and get new pistons put crank and rods out of LS2 into LS3

the lifter bore is off center to the cam (a manufacturing defect) cause the lifter to seize and then esplode and destroy my cam, and a lot of metal debris in the oil

money well thats a funny thing i can spend about 8500-10,000 the question comes down to do i want to spend that much.

the LS7 im 50/50 on since i need a custom pan to run it with the GTO cross member, while i would love the engine it just might not be worth it

machining will likely be done localy here by some shops that ive come to know and trust

You can use those heads and run a decent 402 to 414" motor with no problems. It will generate plenty of power and run a bigger cam.

I say you move into that direction.

Man, I'm no lawyer but I'm pretty sure you have a solid case on your hands if:

    A) Your insurance pointed you towards that shop
    B) They signed off on the work to be completed
    C) Did it with with stuff that knowingly messed up the warranty.

I mean it would be awesome to jump into a LS7, but that's about how much the car is worth with a working engine. A lot of cash to throw into an AUDM->USDM hackjob.

i had already signed my papperwork agreeing that the work was completed to my satisfaction, so going to the ins co is of no recourse, and pontiac didnt tell me shit till months later so it was just too late

btw as far as the value of the car im keeping this fucker for a long time to come so im fine with dumpin some cash in it :)

just wondering why you would stop at 402/414 instead of going to a 427 or even bigger?

i just figure if im gona dump the cash for machine work might as well go for it right? :) just wondering what your thinking was for those specific engine sizes

That is all kinds of messed up. Considering that this is an '06 car I'd go after it.

Look at that paperwork again. Does that paperwork say that the warranty will be voided? Why aren't you more pissed about this?!

Depends on what block you are going to use...

If you get an LSX block the sky is the limit :coold:

i was, spent 6 months fighting it over a year and change ago, exhausted all my avenues of support, basicly just gave the fuck up,

no the papperwork didnt say the warranty is void, however the aftermarket parts that were used by the shop werent approved by GM for use on this car, so the shop and ins co say the car's warranty shouldnt be void and that gm is to blame GM says that its the shops fault and all kinda shit, it was a major clusterfuck, i basicly just gave in and said fuck it ill just have fun with it.

now that the failure has happened there is nothing i can do since the parts that were in the car would have voided the warranty any way
