    I have a Canon XTi, 18-55 kit lens, 75-300mm, 50mm 1.8

I really want a 7D or 5DMKII, should I keep the XTi for regular everyday secondary shooting or sell it for a couple hundred? Should I keep the lenses?

18-55 wouldn't work with the 5D (full frame). I'd keep the 50mm and sell the XTi w/ the kit and 75-300 as a package :dunno:

How do you tell if a lens will work with a full frame camera?

Sell it... once you get the 7D, you'll never want to touch the XTi again; I got the 7D after 2 years of practicing with my XTi.

The XTi still a great entry DSLR for a beginner looking to wet their feet without breaking the bank. You can probably sell it for $200-250

    ^werd.

EF-mount and EF-S-mount lenses will work on crop bodies (Rebels, 7D, x0D)

EF-mount will work on full-frame (5D) AND crop bodies.

    I wouldn't sell it...wait it out.
I've shot the XT, 40D, and D200...and I always regret getting rid of my XT.
Something about the images that little cam puts out is really pleasing to my eye....
/would love to buy a rebel XT and 50 1.8 to go along side my D200

Since I probably wouldn't get much for it, I think I will keep it for a secondary or use it as my zoom camera. Hopefully I will get to do more photography this year!

Well, look at it this way. If you won't get much for it now, you definitely won't get much for it later.

If you don't use it and you're not a pro that needs a backup, sell it. Might as well get the most $$ out of it now before it becomes totally useless to anyone.

I just sold my XSI for the same reason. I'm a hobbyist and have no need for two cameras.

I got $125 for just my XT body as a trade-in at Hunt's. Considering tons of people are dumping them for the T1i and T2i you're better off keeping it or selling it as soon as you can.
