I really don't want to pay the note for 18 months while i'm in iraq. So can i just turn it in to the dealer if i can't sell it? Should i? Or just keep paying for it?

Some dealers will take it on consignment and try to sell it for you.

How long is your deployment? If it's not more than a year, I would just hold on to it and set up some type of allotment for it.

Keep it. Store it. By the time your deployment is over you should be able to pay it off or refinance for a lower APR/payment.

Im deploying in 2 weeks , my base has a storage facility , or in marine corps terms , a parking lot to store your vehicle for free while your gone.

If you are storing it outside, spend some extra change on a good car cover. Actually, even indoors, it should be covered.

You can either continue to pay for it and probably even pay it off while deployed.

You can store it on the TMO vehicle lot also (only if you don't get BAH).

OR you can try and sell it, but it may be cutting it too close for you to find a buyer.

I was leasing a vehicle before deployment and used the SRA to break the lease without penalty.

you still want to have somebody run it atleast once a month for about 10 mins to make sure the fluids dont lock the engine up

That's not necessary. All you need is Sta-Bil in the gas tank.

I've had my car stored for 8 months without starting. When I went to retrieve it, I poured a quart of oil in to ensure the top half of engine was lubricated before I started it. Then once started I went and had the oil changed immediately.

Most car storage places will not start your car on a regular basis.

An ounce of prevention is all it takes. :)

Most storage places have a checklist to follow prior to storing the car.
