What to do? (lots of pics)

    Ok, here is my story. Last august I quit smoking and decide to turn my life around. At that time I was 255lbs + or - a few. Fast forward to today. I am around 200lbs on my new scale. While at school (sept - may) I basically ate clean, did cardio, and weight trained.

    Now that I am home I have started the bill starr routine and I cycle 10-15+ miles 2-3 times a week(on my off days). I am kind of unsure what I want to do now though. On one hand I am sick of cutting. On the other it'd be nice to get down to 180 (my original goal). After returning home in late may I bumped my calories and upped by physical activity to match and haven't put on much weight (from 195 on my old spring scale to 200 + or - on my new tantia scale). Since coming home I have noticed very good strength gains (I attribute this to eating more and the new routine).

    Do you think I should continue to cut down to 180 or so or say fuck it and put on some mass? I am thinking about going back to my strict diet and continuing my cut as even with 10-15lbs more muscle I'll still have quite a bit of fat on me and I won't be happy. And ofcourse to throw a wrench into all this I am going on vacation in July for 22 days (european tour with my mother and sister).

    I'll amend this post with more recent pics soon as I get done lifting in the morning/afternoon.

    looking good man!

    I say continue with your current routine of increased caloric intake + increased exercise to give your muscles the food they need but increased exercise to prevent gaining anymore fat. It looks like you have a good frame to work with in bulking and building muscle, but you mine as well get that extra fat out of the way now while your body is used to the strict diet.

    I dunno... have you seen Pokesteve?? I hear he was cycling Poptarts AND Soda.. that boy is SWOLE!! I want to gain lean mass but I'm not looking to be the next Mr. O

    Personal preference, do whatever. Most people have similar goals of being strong and big with a lower body fat. So it doesn't really matter if you diet down now, and bulk later, bulk now, diet a little longer later, whatever. As long as you are happy with your body and it helps you adhere more to what you are doing. As long as you are working out and are concious of what you eat, its a step in the right direction regardless.

    I think I am going to finish up my cut. Atleast down to 180 as I really want to hit that number as it was my original goal weight. Definately need to clean up my diet though. Being home has really fucked with it. Gotta pick up some fish or flax oil too since I've been meaning to add it to my diet as I don't eat fish as much as I used to (1-2 servings of salmon daily when I was at school).

    umm, you're looking much better but as it was pointed out you dont have much lbm. personaly i would start hitting the weights harder and build some lbm before losing any more weight.

    As much as I hate cutting.... in that scenario I would keep cutting... aiming for around - 1lb per week.

    Personally I'd try to keep building some lbm and get my numbers up before cutting. I'd set a goal of hitting bodyweight for bench 5RM and bodyweight x 1.5 for squat 5RM before I would cut. That way I still have a specific goal to shoot for and I'd have built some lbm for when I do cut.

    Right now there is a good chance (due to your low lbm) you will get down to 180 and be unsatisfied with the results.

    Lurker.. getting down to 180 and being unsatisfied is what i am really worried about.

    I'm gonna post up some pics from tonite in a little bit. I think they will show my current standing better than the pics I previously posted.
