After not lifting for about a year, I finally decided to get back to it this week. It's a bit annoying how sore I am after my first workout. My arms were so sore I could not move them in their full range of motion for a day or two. They're still really sore...should I try to work through it tomorrow or delay until the soreness goes away?

    Alternate hot/cold showers.

    Take ibuprofen.

The first 4-7 days will probably be brutal but you'll get used to it.

Ibu won't help that much either, and too much too often can inhibit your gains. Just wait it out. Do some stretching, do some light cardio, man up and deal.

Yeah, I know this feeling, I just went through it a month ago. :o I just used a lot of Bengay on the sore muscles. Stretching helps, even if you look retarded doing it 'cause of your limited range of motion with sore muscles lol. I found that towards the end of the soreness getting back into the gym and doing your normal exercises but decrease the weight that I'd normally do helped.

It should all be better in a week or two.
