Because, you know, it's impossible that any legitimate software anywhere would ever want to split up the files for distribution.

Now you're just being dense. You know it's a pirated software title... Only question tht remains is which one?

If it were legit, the OP wouldn't have to figure out how to reconstitute it, because it would come with a goddamned installer.

I've never seen it. And if it were the case they likely would have included instructions on what to do with the files or at the very least he would have someone to talk to other than OT about how to use the files.

So while it isn't impossible for it to be a legit software the probability of it being so is probably ranked about as high as your common sense.

Some people distribute linux distros and such as split rar files. A friend of mine sent me BackTrack2 over the lan as such (Why he bothered when the ISO is only like 700mb, I don't know)

Do I think it's likely that it was for a legitimate purpose? I never said that. However, simply distributing something as split does not mean that it is pirated, so it could possibly (If not probably) be a request for help with a legitimate program. Asking him what he pirated, etc, is not helping him with technical issues, and is only trying to get the thread locked.

Regardless of the reason for distributing a file in pieces, if it were a legitimate distribution then it would have at least come with instructions.

Quite a few people here know what to do with them and the answer has already been provided.

assuming that it is suposed to be a video, it would be a HJSplit file. Download that and then have it combine the files. If you have them all in the same folder with the same filenames, just continued extension (.001, .002, .003, etc), then HJSplit will locate all the others based on the .001 file you tell it to combine

EDIT: the files should have 'filename.avi.001' etc... and when combined there will be just one file without the .001 part
