I have $425 to spend at henrys.ca and I have a few wants but I don't know which I should go through with.... :dunno:

    What would you homo's do?

    I have...
    - D70 + 2gb card (never really fill)
    - Tamron 28-75 f2.8
    - Sigma 70-300 APO
    - Nikon 50mm (Nikon thrifty fifty)
    - Cheap tripod (that i barely use)
    - SB-600 + a cheap slave
    - ebay remotes
    - Crumpler Budgie Smuggler Bag
    - wireless shutter trigger

I have a few options that I am considering...

    1. ebay off my Tamron 28-75 and Sigma 70-300 and buy a Nikon 18-200
    2. buy a second camera (a compact P&S that I can keep in my laptop bag and take to places where it would look queer to have a SLR)
    3. Save a little more and get the SIGMA 10-20MM 4-5.6 EX DC NIKON HSM
    4. other ideas...???

    :dunno:

I am kind of leaning towards the buy a second camera option but 1 & 3 also sound good. If I buy a second camera I don't know what I would get ...I guess I want something small but still capable.

I was thinking Nikon Coolpix S51, Nikon Coolpix S700, Canon Powershot SD800 IS, Canon Powershot SD40.

    :dunno:

WWYHD (What would you homo's do?)

nikon 12-24 is $500 more than the Sigma 10-20. I can afford to spend that much if I sell my other lenses but I would only do that for like the Nikon 18-200 or another lens that would replace everything in my bag.

Snapping pics at a mens urinal = :greddy:

But seriously....sometimes a DSLR is just a pain in the ass to carry around when all you want are some snapshots.

I'd probably buy a P&S if you don't really have your heart set on any paticular lens.

--That tamron 11-18 is a piece of shit

get the sigma 10-20 if you buy something for the d70. get a p&s if you don't.

If you look around and find out where I work this will make more sense to you ... if you are going to get a Nikon P&S get the P series ... P5100 or P50 would be > *.L

The P5100/P50 look to big to just slip in my laptop bag and not add noticeable bulk. Is the S700 really that bad?

Yeah I think that is where I am...I keep looking at pictures from the 10-20 and

I just really like the wide open effect.

But then being able to take a camera with me everywhere would be nice too.

yeah i don't really like using tripods so even if I had a better one it would likely just sit.

You have no wide angle lenses. The shortest you have is 28mm, or 42mm equivalent. That is nowhere close to wide. I would get the 10-20.

But keep in mind that wide angle photography, especially that wide, is very challenging. You will be tempted to just try to "get everything in", but your pictures will be boring. To do wide right you need to get up really close and exaggerate perspective. It really is a completely different skill that needs to be developed.

This is true, just wanted to point that out again. I rented a 10-22mm and was disapointed in all my shots with it because of that fact
