I haven't been since they built all the new stuff. With my 40D, i only plan to bring one lens:

Canon 17-55: IS might come in handy, f/2.8
Canon 10-22: Just got it. Would be fun for some extreme WA!

Should I bring a tripod? Does anyone have recommendations for a nice carbon fiber one with ballhead, for travel?

um... i've my dslr before and got very little use out of it. I rather relive the memories in my head or on a small p+s.

Money, money, and more money. No beer money though, because the more you lose that money, the more beers you get. True story. :o

Last time I went to vegas, I didn't shoot that much. I walked the strip drunk, got some pics, took my camera back up to the room, proceeded to pre drink 'till half a bottle of jack was gone, and went out.

I don't remember much, but god damn, it was fun.

Venitian is nice. We usually stay at Harrah's next door, but we go and gamble at the venitian a lot. Take a nice lens. Great photos to be had at Venitian and Ceasar's Palace. Not to mention Bellagio.
