I'm admin and UAC is off and I don't have permission to move a folder :ugh:

Why must Microsoft implement this stuff.

User error or not, it's bullshit.

You can create (or modify) folders that deny access to admins :hsugh:

but, as an admin, you can take over ownership of any file, right?

anyway, that isn't new to vista. i know i've seen that in XP when someone created a file/folder and took away everyone else's permissions.

How do you disable UAC without Vista bitching at you constantly about it, anyway?

I'm aware you can restrict files, and aware you can unrestrict them. But I created these files on my one and only user account

Can't move or delete them :nono:

This is the first thing Vista has ever done to annoy me :hs:

There are a few ways.... Go to msconfig -> tools and scroll down to disable UAC, select and hit launch. Requires a reboot.

I got some error like that the other day while trying to delete a folder. It was nothing a reboot couldn't fix...

Another method, if you have Vista Ultimate is to set UAC to auto accept all requests. Its then still active but won't bother you. This can be done with other versions of Vista via the registry, its an option in Ultimate.

zomg NTFS permissions doing their job? unpossible.

Honestly, if you can't figure out something so simple then you should not be doing it.

    thats nice...

but nowhere in "trial" or "error" do I see "blame microsoft for perfectly executing their goals in a stable, secure, robust, and simple package for no reason other than the op's incompetence."

You arrogance is so childish...why must you constantly state how everyone else has inferior knowledge to you and is therefore incompetent? What did your mommy not hold you enough while you were growing up?

Why not just help the guy or keep your mouth shut?

Oh and where's this more assertive forum moderation we were hearing so much about?

Moving a fucking folder!? If I can't figure out NTFS permissions I shouldn't be moving a folder?

You just get better and better

God forbid someone uses a computer that doesn't know EXACTLY how the file system works and doesn't literally stick their cock inside the exhaust fan and fuck it.

He does it all over the place too. I've seen him in Mac Shack being exactly the same. Anything technical at all and he spurts insults at people who know less that him.

that's why Microsoft releases the Home and Basic versions of it's OSes.... NTFS permissions have been simplified/stripped for those users.
