This is what pisses me off most about trying to read about working out. Everybody says something different. Recently, I've been reading a LOT about losing weight. So I have a routine and now I read this article:

    http://www.mensfitness.com/fitness/71

You guys are telling me to work out different muscles on different days, but mens fitness says this

So basically, according to them, I should have full-body workouts everyday, instead of different muscles, different days. Also, they say this:
and like it says, I've always thought that I should do low weight, high reps... but apparently not.

What do you guys say about this?

The trick with this forum is you have to realize that you're getting information and misinformation from people who have different goals from you but will assume they are the same. Also lots of arrogance and ignorance as well.

ignore the first block, live by the second block

full body workouts suck. either go with a 3-4 day bodybuilding split, or go was a Max-OT, bodypart-a-day approach. stay away from full body circuts. and always go heavy

and notice, that article also came from men's health magazine

 somebody that agrees, I also think theres a ton of arrogant people in here, but obviously not everybody is like that. I just wanna see some opinions from actual smart people, on what they think about the article :o

See what I mean.. always mixed opinions. Now could you give me a reason why the full body workout isnt good? you are basically going 100% against what a magazine is saying.

and whats so bad about mens health mag?

Christopers "What Built me a bass". Bill Starrs shit, Ripptoe's (sp) shit....they all have you going heavy more then once a week. Once I got my GPP up I have been seeing great gains in size and strenght on a modifies Ripptoe routine.

It all depends on your goals, once the gains from this slow down I plan to go to a upper/lower (similaer to WSB shit) split but still going heavy at least twice a week. For beginers a total body or upper/lower split is great, do that for awhile then switch tot body-part shit.

i agree... it's hard to find what the "best" routine :mb:

i've been switching up my routines like crazy the past couple months looking for the "best" one

in the end, it's fucking stupid, just pick 1 routine and stick with it, and eat (well, don't eat in your case). because after all, you're still just working out all your muscles

    hopefully this clears thigns up,
    Greg

Everything in that article is generally agreed upon, but:
    a) most people here aren't trying to lose weight
    b) some people here debate whether hypertrophy/strength is best achieved through bodypart isolation days or full body days. This debate though is mostly a moot point because most people don't have the dedication/diet to achieve success using either scheme. It also could be argued that its the difference between schemes is relatively minutae anyway.

So I don't know where youre getting this conflicting opinion thing.

You might find people telling you different things because different things work for different people. So you just have to find something that works for your body.
