Like pushing a couch behind the door or putting a big bar across the top.

Ive also heard of people bolting 4 by 2 timber to the floor so the bottom of the door cant get past it.

Use smoke alarm tester buttons as a panic alarm.

I have a glock, ar, and shotty... If I need to defend myself in my own home, it will be done with lethal force.

A buddy of mine bought some 12ga shells filled with rocksalt. I told him he's an idiot for using them for home defense. If he's justified in discharging his weapon, he is justified in using lethal force. Using non-lethal ammunition does NOT give him any more right to discharge if that is not the most reasonable course of action. As a result, if you have no other reasonable choice but to discharge, the need is there to have the greatest chance of immediately ending the conflict. There is no aim-to-wound in home defense.

Consequently, I will do everything in my power to have the best-suited firearm available for my defense. In the unfortunate event that this is not possible, I will grab whatever is handy to ensure my survival -- whether that be a softball bat, 2x4, alarm clock, or bic pen.

I have my pellet gun, I also tarred the stairs into the basement, hooked up an electric bbq lighter to the front door handle after icing the front steps, tied a blowtorch to the side door and hung some paint cans from the upstairs railings. I can also let out my big brothers pet tarantula to scare the bad guys.

I have a pretty extensive home security system with Monotronics. And two neighbors that are both good friends, and fellow gun owners/hunters, and we all look out for each other.

I also have a few lap dogs that seem to hear every twig break outside. Outside of those mechanical/electrical deterrants I have my own street smarts and intuition which is my primary weapon even before lethal force deterrants.

" there's going to be a lot of slow singin' and flower bringin' if my burgular alarm starts ringin'! "

I have a shotgun that shoots pistols.
That way I am justified in claiming self defense.

She cant do a whole lot of damage but i swear she'll start barking at the sound of the grass bending under your feet at the edge of the yard.
