I am ordering all my gear tomorrow, what software should I order with it? I guess i dont really know if how i am using my gear makes any difference, im probably not going to be doing any shooting for money, but i want to have good looking shots. so I want something good for post-processing.
I only have macs if that matters.

I talked myself into the XTi, and I am going to get the 28-135 IS USM lens. I am going on vacation in a month, and if I decide when I get there that I need a wider lens, I know a place locally in DC that has good prices and will have the 17-85 IS USM in stock.
Im also getting all the usual stuff, tiffen UV filter, memory card, flash, remote, battery. Havnt decided on a case yet, probably will use my minolta sholder bag for now :greddy:
    Im also getting this http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=cart_accessories&A=details&Q=&sku=483901&is=REG
Found a few complaints about the screen, and i figured it was cheap insurance to protect the screen.

I cant order yet though because B&H is not taking orders until tomorrow night.

  4. I think if you're just starting out I'd get Lightroom before Photoshop CS3.

Lightroom ($200 or $99 student discount I think) is cheaper and most photographers use it as a crutch to lean on if their shots are under or overexposed. You could use it as a learning tool or learn to rely on it.

Photoshop CS3 (probably around $600) would be good if you want to manipulate your photos, add borders, and add watermarks. But I'm sure you could easily download a free watermarking, border adding program.

ill probably end up just downloading both. it seems that the more expensive a piece of software is, the more available it is for download.

Lightroom is pretty sweet, but it runs slower than CS3 on my comp. It's probably getting to be time for a hardware upgrade soon, but I'd rather wait til right before StarCraft 2. :naughty:

Unfortunately that might be 50 years from now... =\
