    Glock 17
    Glock 19
    XD9
    Sig 226 CPO

I used to hate the look of Glocks but their simplicity and reliability is winning me over.

It's concealable, you can carry Glock 17 mags, mags are still relatively cheap, biggest amount of aftermarket sights/parts, and the most important one...IT WORKS.

I'll be honest, I was less than impressed with the grip when I first got mine. After I got it and actually used it, I love it. No other factory gun that I've tried fits my hand better.

I made the mistake of getting something other than a Glock for my first handgun. I love my gun (S&W M&P9), but I'm not gonna make that mistake again. Next one will be a G19.. hopefully a 19RTF.

later on if you decide to get an even more concealable G26.. the G26 can use G19 mags and barrel, so in a jam, you have more parts on-hand.

When I went out for my first, I really wanted a G19. But my guy didn't have one in stock... he did have a compact XD45 though, the kind that comes with a short mag and a long mag with the grip extension that slides over it for a more or less full-size XD. HUGE mistake. Should've gotten what I wanted.

Traded up for a G23, which felt about right, but I wasn't sure about the caliber. It was leaps and bounds better than the XD for what I wanted, but I only got that instead of forcing the G19 because the 23 was a great deal. Well, some time has passed and things have changed a bit in terms of my needs and wants from a pistol, I decided that the G17 was the way to go, being what I knew best and had worked with the most. So... I swapped the 23 for a 17. I think if I'd have gotten the 19 the first time around, I'd have never got anything different. But the 17 is a wonderful piece, wouldn't trade it for the world if it meant I couldn't get another.

If you're not needing to conceal, you might find the G17 to be the way to go, but really either the 17 or 19 would be an absolutely wonderful gun whether you're beginner or pro.

If you wind up getting a 226, might look around and try to find one of the old ones that was made in West Germany. That would be the ultimate Sig.

    Wirelessly posted via wap.offtopic.com (Itstinks: Opera/9.60 (J2ME/MIDP; Opera Mini/4.2.13221/786; U; en) Presto/2.2.0)

Of the choices listed I'd do the G19.
