what RAID levels does windows 2000 pro support?

    0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 10, 0+1, etc.

    why would anyone run raid 2, 3, 4, or 6. they are too expensive and not practicle.

    I know it will do mirroring and I believe striping, but not of the boot drive of course. As said earlier, if you use a hardware RAID card, the OS doesn't know the difference will work (even boot) from any RAID level.

    It will do 0, 1, 0+1, and 5 in software.

    No. Only Windows 2000 Server will do RAID 5.
