I'm going to HK/China next month.

I'm bringing my D80 and my Crumpler 6 million dollar home.

Things I'm gonna buy in the next couple weeks:
    Tamron 17-50.
    Gorilla Pod
    Polarizing Filter
    SB-600?
    R Strap?

Anyone else have any other accessories they would recommend for travel? or affordable lenses I should pick up?

Gorilla POD is worthless without a good head on it.
It'll grip onto a pole, but the shot will totally be off center and massively off tilt without a head.

i did 17 days in europe. i didn't need a flash at all

i only used my nikon 35 1.8 and my tokina 11-16 the whole time. now that i have the tamron 17-50, i'd probably use only the tammy and 35 1.8.

    Really? No Flash?
I dunno, man. Flash came in handy many times was I was in EU.
Night time Portraits with the Eiffel tower wouldn't have come out without a flash.

That's one thing i wish i had with me..a tripod.
But before i left I said I didn't want the extra weight and have to lug around a tripod for the whole trip.
Now I know how handy a tripod is and I got a grollia pod for my next trip.

    allstate.html

Seriously, I got it with my renters and auto insurance, it's called something like a "Personal Articles Policy." Dirt cheap, and no deductible! Call your agent and see.

Nah, just the same place that does my car and rental insurance. I got it mainly because of the 10% additional multipolicy discount. It was mad cheap though, and it's retail value, not replacement value, which is fucking sweet.
