www.nikoncafe.com <full of haters
or Camera specific forums like Nikon Cafe or POTN?
Only thing that pisses me off about them are, there are way too many people obsessed with gear, than actually shooting.
"MY 70-200 is soft, does it look soft?
I focused on this then stepped back 2 feet then shot and the image came out soft WTFBBQ is going on?"
I really don't post my stuff on any other forums except here and my site. Occasionally POTN but rarely.
I browse a lot. OT has some of the better critique though.
POTN is awful and full of noobs asking dumb questions.
Gear-obsessed people on there too.
Great place to troll and sell gear though.
I like OTAP the best. You guys are cool dudes.
Before this forum the only other photography forum I posted on was the photography forum on Nexopia.com
But the fun/good people left and there are a lot of fucktards left.
OT ftw. are you happy i showed u this forum josh.
this forum is the shit
Anyone here pay for Nikonians.com?
I had a short trial with them
All in all I wasn't a fan, and that site is worse about money that OT subs.
That's what I figured. The sub cost is fucking nuts. I'd rather pay for a year of KelbyTraining. I'd def. learn more.
OT > *
honest truth over gear dweebs trying to ride your nutsack
Nikonians sucks...the only good thing is that the people seem to be loyal and pay a bit more than other places.
I've been on the forum for about a year (Nikonians) and it's largely polite and older men, all of whom kiss each others asses. I was brutal in the C&C forums and consistently got jumped on...people would post SHIT pictures of nothing using their D300 and their nice lenses and I would tell it like it was and everyone else praised them. Seems like the Florida of camera forums.
and free agents
I like to use Cooliris's 3d wall client to rip through people and groups on flickr. great way to consume thousands of images fast...
check it out at www.cooliris.com
ban for advertisement
this subforum is great, just wished it moved faster
i'm spoiled by the main
Reminds me of nikoncafe. Nobody criticizes anything over there and people get pussyhurt over the slightest things. But there are alot of pictures to view...and some really nice stuff amidst all the delusion.
I always like to check out:
However, OT has jaded me and most other sites I end up getting banned or generally annoyed by the happy go lucky attitude.
yeah i got banned from a motorcycle forum for this reason. apparently bashing the manufacturer for a mistake from factory doesn't sit well when people sackride the bike
holy shit dpchallenge should be renamed to processthelivingshitoutofyourphotos.com
Usually the Basic editing challenges are great.
though if using Topaz is considered basic editing now, then eff that shit.
Or fuck it, I'll just start making entries using Nik Color efex.
The challenges have different edit rules. The ones on the main page are all advanced editing which are yeah photoshop hell. Hell here are the rules for advanced:
combine up to the allowable number of captures either in-camera or in post-processing.
use any feature of your camera while photographing your entry. In-camera features applied after the capture are subject to normal editing rules.
crop, rotate and resize your entry.
clone out incidental power lines, twigs, dust specks, stray hairs, and similar minor imperfections within any capture used.
apply filters, effects, dodge & burn, and other tools to all or part of your entry, but NO new shapes or features may be created in the process.
saturate, desaturate or change the colors of your entry or any existing object within it.
use layers, layer masks, and alternative layer modes.
add a border to the outside edge of your entry. Your border must be distinct and clearly recognizable as a border.
use RAW conversion software.
use software to correct perspective, lens defects, or minor misalignments.
request removal of your own entry during the voting period IF none of your last 25 entries were disqualified or removed, and no rules were violated.
There are other challenges such as minimal editing which does not allow RAW editing or cropping.
Use a RAW original or RAW conversion software. You may shoot in RAW+JPG mode, provided you use the JPG original to create your entry.
crop your entry.
adjust brightness, contrast, curves or levels.
spot-edit your entry for any purpose.
use the marquee, lasso, or similar tool to select a portion of your image for any reason.
use any filters or other similar editing tools for any purpose.
use layers for any purpose.
adjust hue or saturation, adjust or eliminate individual color channels, or use the Channel Mixer or any equivalent tool, except for the most basic black and white conversion as allowed above.
add a border to your entry.
hold more than one DPChallenge account, ask anyone to vote on your behalf, or link to your entry’s voting page.
submit more than one entry per challenge.
use the same original image in more than one challenge.
use ANY editing tool to create new image area, objects or features (such as lens flare or motion) that didn’t already exist in your original capture.
add graphics, clip art, computer-rendered images or parts of other photographs to your entry during editing.
add text to your entry during editing. This includes copyright statements.
distort or stretch your image in any way.
submit a photograph depicting male or female genitalia, or acts of sex deemed inappropriate by a majority of the Site Council.
Actually look closely, the one for planes trains and automobiles is basic editing. yet it looks processed to shit because of Topaz filter.
I think they should update the rules.
what is this topaz filter you speak of?
