... allow foreign nationals to join their army? i.e, as an American, can I apply for citizenship in another country and enlist? Besides the US, where you don't even need to be a citizen.

Just curious. I'm not about to jump ship. :x

French Foreign Legion but I think you'll cry to your mommy/snap and kill someone within the first 6 months

Could you rephrase? Obviously America allows citizens to join so that we may have a military...?

Why is that? I'm not too familiar with the Foreign Legion. How tough is it and what do they do in modern times? I found this site, but it's too much for me to go through right now...

I know of it. I don't know much about it. That must be real hilarious... :greddy:

I agree. I don't care much for it. I think US citizenship should be a requirement. If they aren't able to get it, they shouldn't be able to enlist. Although military pay isn't the greatest, it's probably a huge raise for most foreigners.

Don't the Gurkhas fall under the British Army, or did at one point?

Still do. After 48 they were split between the British Army and the new Indian Army. They still serve in both to this day.

I'm still not sure what you mean, originally the Gurkhas were a small group of Nepalese, these days it's mainly used for anyone that serves in a Gurkha regiment...
