What order should i go in?

    Ive come to the realisation that I need to get in better shape. Last summer I lost about 50 lbs but ended up putting it back on when I went to college. This summer I plan on losing a lot of weight.. but I also want to start lifting at some point.

    Should I start doing a lot of cardio, and lose the weight before I start lifting? Or should I put on the muscle mass in order to raise my base metabolism?

    You could always do both. :dunno: If you're going to reduce calories you should probably lift to maintain muscle.

    being skinny fat sucks only slightly less than being fat. lift, do cardio, eat clean as fuck and slightly below maintenance.

    A bit of both. A clean diet and excercise routine combine with cardio will net you alot of weight loss plus a better physique.

    I was well still am in the same situation you were in Jan. I was lifting 3x a week and running 2x. Combine that with an okay diet I dropped 17 lbs fairly quickly. Then changed my diet to a cleaner diet. Then up it to 5x a week lifting and 3x times a week cardio(running, swimming, basketball, whatever i choose) and the weight lost has still come not as a fast pace before but I am still losing weight and puting some mass on still. Jan 2 I was 226.5 now I'm 193.0 lbs. today.
