So pretend you're retarded and want to play in the NFL in 2012. You're kinda old and somewhat skinny fat. What position would you specialize in to maximize your chances of making it into the NFL, while minimizing need for height or skill?

So primary focus is on combine tests, 40 yard dash, bench press, jumps, etc. Let's pretend that you could meet some of these requirements, but you aren't even going to catch a ball. Obviously special teams, 2nd string. Maybe long snapper? Blocking for punt returns?

if the question is "what position requires little to no football skills, and little to no physical conditioning?" than I would have to go with ball boy or referee.

You would be better not saying what NFL position, because there is no position in the NFL that is easy. If you are just playing league ball or pickup, than most people you play against will be just as shitty as you are, which means your doors are wide open.

say little ball handling skills, perhaps a lot of knowledge, lots of conditioning, but not a lot of height.

So if I was 5'11" 240 and jacked, but not necessarily highly skilled. Assume I can train full time with the best coaches available for speed and strength.

Defensive End, Offensive Guard or Tackle. Nothing in either secondary.

depends on how good your footwork is, if you are sloppy and slow, you'd be an O Guard or a Defensive Nose. If you can handle pulling for blocks (O Tackle) or rounding the corner to get to the quarterback (D End) than there you are.

So this kinda came out of an argument that I as a fatass would definitely be a better QB than colts third string Curtis Painter, simply by taking a knee on every play and letting the clock run down. I am able to not throw interceptions and perhaps I could even hand off the ball. So even though both of us wouldn't score, I'd score fewer points for the other team.

I would never put somebody that size at my QB position, considering the majority of QB turnovers come from bad hand offs and missed snaps, and you said you have little ball skill.

true, but I can take a snap and put my knee down on every single play, which beats painter's multiple interceptions and perhaps 1 first down in half a game.

No one would ever pick a quarterback to do this, but I wonder what it takes to make other positions work.

So if you want to be a qb you are competing with half the guys in the country, because everyone want to be qb. No one grows up saying "I'm going to be the best long snapper in history." So your competition is way the fuck less, though still probably very tough. If you goal is just to make it, then you would want to go for the position best suited to your body, combined with least competition.

    Wisconsin. Seriously.
You don't become a backup backup backup QB because you can take a snap and a knee. :ugh:

You become a third string QB because there are two other QB's that are better than you.

All wrong answers. There isn't a position for an old fatass to play.
You'll be much happier taking a few grams of LSD.
