My dad said he would buy me a new lens for christmas this year. I want it to be a Canon.

My dad proposed the EF28-105mm USM II f3.5-4.5 as his idea...

I was also thinking about getting the 75-300mm usm but im not really sure...

What lens would you buy to replace the kit lens on the canon 300d?

    Thanks in advance.

I have the 28-105 USM, and it is a great walk-around lens. However, I find it VERY lacking in the wide-end (which is what I would use more if it was available). I highly recommend a wide zoom lens, perhaps canon 10-22mm or 20-35mm, as always - stick with USM at a minimum.

Tamron 17-35 or the Tamron 28-75 if you're on a budget, period.

    Still a good choice.

Thanks for thre recommendation, I'm highly considering it.

    Great choice.

Good lens, used to own one, very sharp.

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll think about it.

Wow, it's so cheap and sharp at the same time

    Great budget lens.

    :)

sans the people, wide angle would benefit you. you don't really need a telephoto zoom for sunsets, nature or buildings... but hey, whatever floats your boat
